Some of life’s greatest pleasures should only be enjoyed on rare occasions. That rule especially applies to food. Our taste buds naturally make us crave high fat and high calorie meals. That makes sense when your species evolves in an environment that doesn’t always offer a lot of meal choices. Those traits that helped our ancestors survive, though, are the same ones that cause obesity and high blood pressure in the modern world.
Just because the best foods are bad for you does not mean that you can never enjoy them. Everything in moderation. There should be classes that teach people how to eat delicious foods without going overboard. It would be something similar to a GMAT prep course, except it would focus on pizza and ice cream.
Bacon Pop is one of the newest inventions that is bound to make healthy eating more difficult. If your grandmother ever made you popcorn cooked in bacon grease, then you know how tasty this treat is. Now consumers can make it just by putting a bag in the microwave for a few minutes. The combination of bacon and butter is certain to ruin more than a few diets.
You might think that this isn’t such a big deal. After all, isn’t popcorn a healthy snack? Of course it is, until you add a bunch of bacon and butter to it!
Everyone who tries Bacon Pop loves the taste. Even people claiming not to “dig on swine” seem to think this convenient product has an unmistakably delicious flavor.
That’s great for those who know how to eat in moderation. A lot of people, though, just don’t seem to have that skill. Instead of using foods like Bacon Pop as a once-in-a-while reward, they eat it every day. That’s a one-way ticket to weight gain.
